<\/a> On February 5, 2026, an online seminar dedicated to World Cancer Day was held at the R.E. Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. World Cancer Day is an annual international initiative observed on February 4 with the aim of raising awareness about cancer and promoting current approaches to its prevention and treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was organized by the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute within the framework of the project \u201cONcoLogiCa,\u201d launched in 2024. The keynote scientific lecture was delivered by Professor Olena V. Kashuba, Doctor of Biological Sciences and Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Mechanisms of Cell Transformation. In her presentation, she comprehensively addressed the role of viruses in the initiation and progression of malignant neoplasms, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms by which DNA-containing viruses contribute to malignant cellular transformation underlying the development of certain types of cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminar brought together approximately 100 participants, including physicians, researchers, and students of medical and biological specialties. The event featured an active professional discussion, demonstrating the high level of interest within the scientific community in the issue of virus-associated carcinogenesis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizers emphasized that such scientific and educational initiatives contribute to strengthening collaboration within the research community, facilitating the exchange of up-to-date knowledge, and increasing public awareness of oncological diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
