International Cooperation OECI
The «Organisation of European Cancer Institutes» ( ОЕСІ-EEIG, www.oeci.eu ) is a non-governmental, no-profit legal Entity established in 1979 to promote greater cooperation among European Cancer Centres and Institutes.
Its founders designed a structure aimed at promoting efficient partnership across Europe, notwithstanding its linguistic barriers and traditional care and research heterogeneity.
The OECI is a network presently regrouping 102 Members collaborating to reduce fragmentation and to give to all European cancer patients the possibility of receiving the best available care.
The OECI Yearbook is a unique promotional tool providing a brief descriptive profile of each OECI Member, the references of the management of the centres and of its contact person.
On June 14 – 16, 2023, the 45th meeting of the General Assembly of the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI), dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the award of the first Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of radioactivity to Marie Skadovska-Curie, was held in Paris.
More than 130 leading European specialized cancer institutions took part in the OECI 2023 Oncology Days and OECI General Assembly. The RE Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine represented Ukraine at this largest European oncology forum.
The plenary sessions and scientific conferences discussed the European strategy of anti-cancer initiatives and defined a model of the future European anti-cancer infrastructure aimed at successful overcome the problems and challenges of modern oncology.
The plenary session dedicated to the preparation of the Ukrainian oncology service on the way to the European Union, which was chaired by the OECI President Professor Thierry Philippe and Ukrainian representative Professor Vasyl Chekhun, became a significant event of the OECI 2023 Oncology Days.
On behalf of the Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna the first Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine Serhii Dubrov greeted the participants of the OECI 2023 Oncology Days and OECI General Assembly. Mr. François Braun, Minister of Health and Prevention of France (4 July 2022 – 20 July 2023) addressed the participants of the event and expressed comprehensive support for Ukraine on its way to the European Union.
The report of Professor Vasyl Chekhun and Olga Rossylna reflected the current structure of the Ukrainian cancer service and the legislative framework for its transformation against the background of reforms in the Ukrainian healthcare sector.
The OECI President Professor Thierry Philippe in his report expressed the active position of the Organisation on the implementation of European standards to increase accessibility and improve the quality of cancer care for patients. He drew special attention to the need to transform and optimize the oncology infrastructure network in Ukraine.
During the active discussion and debate, the participants of the plenary session made specific recommendations, proposals and initiatives.
The OECI decision to allocate a grant to support our military defenders injured during the russian military aggression against Ukraine deserves special attention and gratitude.
All the events within the framework of the OECI 2023 Oncology Days and OECI General Assembly were held under the flag of Ukraine, and in the closing speech of the OECI President Thierry Philippe, the words «Glory to Ukraine!» the words were sounded in all European languages.

Fourteenth Annual Meeting of National Cancer Institute Directors (NCID 2019), Lyon, France
For many years Iepor conducts joint research with leading scientific and medical institutions in many foreign countries in the field of experimental pathology and oncology.
Today, the Institute co-operates and provides research on international projects and grants with numerous foreign partners, in particular, from Austria, Belarus, Italy, Cuba, Lithuania, Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Russia, USA, Turkey, France, Sweden, Japan.
Since 1994 IEPOR is the only institution of the OECI-EEIG member (Organization of European Cancer Institutes-European Economic Interest Grouping). The activities of this organization are aimed at introducing innovative, competitive, high-quality cancer treatment techniques developed on the principles of evidence-based medicine. This is achieved by coordinating clinical and scientific research and raising the level of education in the institutions of the oncological profile of Europe.
IEPOR membership in OECI-EEIG creates a significant basis for strengthening the integration of domestic cancer in European space.
